Download & Installation Instructions

Step 2 Set up your account and device

  1. Find the file where you saved it, and double click on it. It will be a “.dmg” file.

  2. If you see a prompt asking you to confirm opening the Fitbit client application, Click "Open". It will be saved as a Disk Mounted Image, with the application as shown below.

  3. A system prompt might appear, confirming that you know the source of the file. Click "Open".

  4. Open the file from the saved location to see a brief outline of the scale setup process. At this point you should have your computer and scale with you, ideally within 15 feet of your Wi-Fi router.

  5. If you are an existing Fitbit member, click the link "Log in to your account". Fill in your Fitbit email and password, then click “log in”. Apple's keychain, or password management system, may automatically populate with your account information. If you are not already a member, create an account through the simple application, by providing a valid email and password, then click “Sign up”.

  6. Use the provided fields to fill in your personal information. We need the information to customize your Fitbit experience and to ensure the scale will be able to identify you. The information that you provide is completely confidential.

  7. Personalize your scale by providing a scale name and your initials, then click “Next”. The scale name will come in handy should you ever own more than one scale. The initials are used to identify you if you share you scale.

  8. Connect to your Wi-Fi network. The client may suggest your current Wi-Fi network. If you want to use that network, click “Yes”. If you do not want to use the suggested network, click “No” and select from the list of visible networks that are in range. Input the network password and click “Connect”. If your network is hidden, select “Add a network”.

  9. Place your scale into setup mode by pulling the small tab protruding from the battery compartment on the bottom of the scale. If done properly, "SETUP ACTIVE" will scroll on the scale's display. If the tab on the scale has already been removed and does not display "SETUP ACTIVE", open the battery compartment door and remove one battery, wait 10 seconds, then replace the battery and close the battery compartment.

  10. Watch the on-screen client messages. The client will connect to the scale and send your Wi-Fi information. The scale will then look for your Wi-Fi network, then link to the Fitbit server. During the setup, your scale display will show status messages - you don’t need to focus on these - just watch the client screen messages.
