An Idea was Born

In 2007, our founders, Eric and James, realized that sensors and wireless technology had advanced to a point where they could bring amazing experiences to fitness and health. They embarked on a journey to create a wearable product that would change the way we move.

James Park

James is our Co-Founder and has served as our Chairman since May 2015, as a member of our board of directors since March 2007, and as our President and CEO since September 2007. Previously, James served as a Director of Product Development at CNET Networks, as the President and a Co-Founder of Wind-Up Labs, Inc. (an online photo-sharing company acquired by CNET Networks in April 2005). He was also CTO and Co-Founder of Epesi Technologies, Inc., a software company. James attended Harvard College where he studied Computer Science. He was selected to serve as a member of our board of directors due to the perspective and experience he brings as our Co-Founder, President, and CEO.

Eric is our Co-Founder and has served as a member of our board of directors since March 2007, and most recently as our CTO. Previously, Eric served as an Engineer Manager at CNET Networks, as a Co-Founder of Wind-Up Labs, a founding engineer of Epesi Technologies, and a technical member of the Real-Time Collaboration Group at Microsoft Corporation. Eric holds a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Yale University. He was selected to serve as a member of our board of directors due to the perspective and experience he brings as our Co-Founder and CTO.

Edward has been our Chief Revenue Officer since October 2010. From 2007-2010, he served as a partner at Avanti Growth Partners, a private equity and consulting firm. Prior to Avanti, Edward served as Executive VP and a member on the board of directors at CamelBak Products, Senior VP at Kransco Partners (a private equity firm), Director of Business Development at Kransco Group Companies (a toy company), Director of Development at Visa International, Product Manager at General Mills, and as an analyst at Cambridge Associates. Edward holds a B.A. in History from Williams College and an M.B.A. from Stanford Business School.

Chief Financial Officer

William has served as our CFO since June 2014. From October 2011 to June 2014, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Vocera Communications, Inc., a wireless healthcare communications company which he took public in 2012. Prior to Vocera, William served as CFO for Force10 Networks (a networking company acquired by Dell Inc), as CFO at Infinera Corporation (a telecom equipment provider), and CFO at Calient Networks (an optical equipment provider). He also held several senior level financial and business management positions at GTECH Corporation and Deloitte & Touche. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from the New York Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at NYU.

Andy Missan has served as our VP and General Counsel since March 2013. From 2009 to 2012, Andy served as VP and General Counsel at Bytemobile, Inc., a mobile video optimization company. Prior to Bytemobile, he served as VP and General Counsel of MobiTV (a provider of mobile video solutions), VP and General Counsel of Danger (a mobile devices and services company), and VP and General Counsel of Replay TV (a DVR technology company). He also held senior legal and business affairs positions at RCA Records Label/BMG Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment. Andy earned a B.A. in Government from Oberlin College and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law.

Marty is responsible for leading Fitbit’s global Human Resources initiatives. A seasoned HR executive, she has over 25 years of progressive responsibility as an HR leader and is passionate about building high performance talent and developing exceptional employees. Previous to Fitbit, Marty practiced HR across a number of industries, including banking, insurance, brokerage and technology, and has worked in both high-growth start-up environments to mature corporate organizations. Most recently, she was Chief People Officer of NetSuite Inc., managing their global Human Capital practice from startup through IPO to rapid global expansion. Marty holds an HBA in Labour Management from the University of Toronto, as well as a B.C. and Masters of Organizational Psychology from the University of Windsor.

Timothy has served as our VP of Interactive since September 2010. From 2007 to 2010, he served as the Founder and CEO of Infectious, a print-on-demand platform. Prior to Infectious, he was the VP of Product and Marketing at Odeo (a podcasting company), Senior Director of Product Management at Yahoo!, VP of Product Management and Co-Founder at Bigstep.com (a hosting company acquired by Affinity Internet in 2002), and Director of Products at T/Maker Company (a personal computer software company). Timothy holds a B.A. in Psychology from Vassar College.

Tim is our VP of Global Marketing and is responsible for brand & product marketing, partnerships, advertising & media, PR & events, Fitbit.com, premium services, CRM, customer acquisition, engagement and monetization. Most recently, Tim was VP of Global Brand Development at Electronic Arts, where he led branding for FIFA, Madden, Battlefield and Need for Speed, among others. Prior to EA, Tim was the VP of Marketing at DivX, a digital video pioneer, leading the company into acquisition. He also led marketing efforts for the famed video game publisher 2K Sports, and increased NBA 2K market share from 10% to 80% in five years. Tim attended the University of Michigan-Flint and lives in Mill Valley, where he spends his "play time” surfing, playing ice hockey, mountain biking and trail running on Mt. Tam.

Amy is responsible for Fitbit Wellness, working with employers and strategic partners in the corporate wellness space. She focuses on empowering organizations to run more effective and engaging wellness programs with Fitbit's world-class technologies & services. Prior to Fitbit, Amy held several strategic roles at CNET Networks, including the Director of Audience and Content Development for the Community Division and Director of Strategic Partnerships for the Network. Amy has a bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College in Andover, MA, and a Professional Certificate in Integrated Marketing Communications from the UC Berkeley Extension program. Amy used to run marathons, but today she gets her steps by chasing her two young boys around. They keep her busy enough to walk the equivalent of one full circle around the earth.

Steven Soderberg

Steven has been a CIO and VP of IT at Bay Area companies for over 18 years. He’s held executive positions at the highest of high-tech companies (Symantec, PGP, Force10 Networks, Vocera) and the lowest of low-tech companies (Robert Mondavi). During those years, Steven also held leadership positions in logistics, materials management, tech support, customer service and winery operations. With a career emphasis on business application systems, his responsibilities span application software systems, networking and corporate infrastructure. Steven has a B.A. from Stanford University and now lives in the East Bay, which makes it easy for him to escape to Tahoe, where he snow skis and water skis every chance he gets.

Mark is responsible for Sales and Channel Marketing in North and South America—focusing on growing our business with our best in class retail partners. Mark has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience with mobile and wireless consumer electronics products. Prior to Fitbit, he led US sales for TomTom, was VP of Sales and Marketing for Navigon (now a Garmin brand), and held a variety of sales management roles in the PDA and smartphone industry at Palm. Mark has a B.S. in Marketing from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He and his Fitbit spend a lot of time visiting customers and logging steps while running through airports.

William Crawford

VP, Engineering & Head of Boston Office

Will leads the growth of Fitbit’s Boston Office and is responsible for software engineering teams, web and mobile functionality and analytics infrastructure. He has over 15 years of tech management and leadership experience. Prior to Fitbit, Will was CTO at Invantage (a pioneer SaaS company), a Health IT advisor for the US Department of Health and Human Services, and was Founder and CEO of Linked Medical (a Massachusetts General Hospital spin-off that was acquired in 2013). He is also the co-author of several popular books on software development, including Java Servlet Programming, Java Enterprise in a Nutshell and J2EE Design Patterns. Will has a B.A. from Yale, an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management, and an MS from MIT. He lives with his wife in Cambridge, MA, which gives him ample opportunities to pad his step count on the way to the office.

Anu Bedi

Anu has over 30 years of experience in Tax, with particular emphasis on International Tax. She was most recently leading the global tax function at Rovi, an entertainment technology company. Prior to that, she spent 13 years at Logitech, building and leading Worldwide Tax as the company grew from $400 Million to over $2 Billion. Anu holds an M.B.A. in International Finance from Thunderbird School of Global Management. She is currently on the Board of the Santa Clara chapter of Tax Executive Institute and is a member of the Silicon Valley Tax Directors Group.

As our VP of Business Development for North America Fitbit Wellness, Ben enables employers and organizations of all sizes to lead more engaging and effective wellness programs. Prior to Fitbit, Ben served as the Regional VP of Western U.S. for Castlight Health, a healthcare IT company that built the first personalized platform for employers to manage their healthcare investments and for employees to make the best health care decisions. Before Castlight, Ben served as VP of Sales & Marketing at Future Point Systems, a software company focused on business and government analytics. He also managed Western U.S. territory at IBM, focusing on healthcare IT and software clients. Ben earned his M.B.A. from UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business, and received his B.A. in Economics from Harvard University.

Brad Samson

Brad Samson

With over 20 years of leading Investor Relations, Brad has earned a reputation among sell-side analysts and institutional investors for delivering transparency, access and insight. Before Fitbit, he led IR for Vocera Communications, a hospital communications tech company. Brad has significant healthcare and wellness industry experience, and corrected a key part of the Affordable Care Act, enabling health insurers to invest in wellness programs and incentives. He also created the first government relations program for the health insurance software developer TriZetto, and has led communications through more than 150 earnings and other significant corporate events. Brad earned both an M.B.A. and B.S. from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver, and keeps his Fitbit busy by cycling, lifting weights and power walking.

Jonah Becker

Jonah leads our industrial design team, creating breakthrough health and fitness products. He has 20 years of experience using design to build brands in the consumer electronics and sporting goods industries. Before joining Fitbit, Jonah was a partner at One & Co, a design agency that delivered award-winning products for brands like Nike, Microsoft, Burton Snowboards, Dell and Kodak. In 2008, One & Co was acquired by HTC where Jonah became VP of Industrial Design and was responsible for the smartphone product lines, future vision projects, and expansion into new categories. Jonah has a B.A. in Philosophy from UC Berkeley and a B.F.A. in Industrial Design from California College of the Arts, where he is a senior lecturer in the design program. When Jonah isn't thinking about design, you'll likely find him trail running, riding a bike or playing soccer with his kids.

Patrick McGivern

Patrick joined Fitbit in April 2014 as VP of Operations and is focused on creating scale and evolving a supply chain that can adapt to Fitbit’s dynamic and growing business. Patrick brings many years of experience in planning, manufacturing, distribution, sourcing and logistics activities on a global basis. Before joining Fitbit in 2014, he was Senior VP of Global Operations at VeriFone Systems, where he grew revenue organically by 3x through acquisition and consolidation of many different supply chains into one single delivery engine. He also spent key years in Operations at Palm Inc., helping the company achieve rapid growth and a successful IPO. He initially worked at Motorola in various operational roles domestically and internationally over 10 years. Patrick has a B.A. in Materials Logistics Management from Michigan State University.

Sam Bowen

Sam Bowen leads our electrical and mechanical engineering teams and is responsible for the development of Fitbit hardware. He has over 18 years of experience developing innovative, high-volume consumer products, and spent the first 8 years of his career as a Baseband Engineer for startups in the UK. Since then, Sam has lived in Singapore and the US, leading teams at Motorola, Palm and Amazon. He has a B.Eng. from Cardiff University of Wales and a C.Eng. from the IEE (Institution of Electrical Engineers). Sam takes early morning and evening calls on his 18-mile cycle commute while testing the latest Fitbit tracker.

Kristina leads Corporate Development at Fitbit. She brings more than 20 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking and strategy to the company. Before coming to Fitbit, Kristina was Vice President of Corporate Development (M&A) for Adobe Systems Inc., where she led a team that oversaw $3+ billion in transactions and focused on inorganic growth, equity investments, M&A execution and post-merger integration. Prior to Adobe, Kristina held positions with Lehman Brothers in Technology Investment Banking and with Hewlett Packard in Strategy & Corporate Development. Kristina holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Jay Kershner

Jay leads our Customer Support and Field Testing teams with a mission to delight customers by quickly providing solutions through the channel of their choice. Prior to Fitbit, Jay spent over 16 years managing customer service teams and building world-class support organizations at TiVo, Dash Navigation and Zynga. His first career was in the restaurant industry, managing restaurants in San Francisco and the Peninsula. Jay holds a B.S. in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. When he’s not working or spending time with his family and three dogs, Jay likes to play basketball and put his Fitbit through the paces at Tough Mudder races. He wears shorts 300 days a year.

Dave has over 20 years of finance experience working at a variety of high-tech and financial services companies. He was most recently the VP of Finance at Aruba Networks, an enterprise wireless company. Before that, Dave led the finance organization at Netgear, a wireless, storage and security company. In his five years there, Netgear grew from a $450 million company to $1.2 billion company. Dave holds a B.S. in Economics from UC Berkeley.

Steve leads our Sales and Marketing organizations in Asia Pacific, and has more than 20 years of experience in VP and Director positions as both a supplier and retailer across Asia Pacific. He established Kodak’s Digital Division in APAC during the industry’s digital transformation, and led large vertical retail businesses for Goodyear and Vodafone. His telecoms experience also includes the build, launch and scaling of one of the region’s first Mobile Virtual Networks. Currently, Steve is busy creating a leadership position for our brand in 10 major Asia Pacific countries. When he's not getting his steps in Asia’s airports, Steve keeps his Fitbit leaderboard position respectable while working at his treadmill desk.

Ron is currently our Chief Accounting Officer. Prior to Fitbit, he served as CFO of Nanometrics, and as both VP of Finance and CFO of PGP Corporation (a data encryption and security software company) until its acquisition by Symantec in 2010. For the eight years prior, Ron held CFO positions at Portal Software and SPL WorldGroup, both acquired by Oracle Corp., as well as Saba Software. And before that, he held a variety of finance and accounting positions at Symantec and Coopers and Lybrand. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Stanford University.

Miko Gellerman

Miko is our VP of Business Planning and Analysis, focusing on leading agile planning processes and analyses to support global sales and marketing. She has 20 years of experience in building businesses, strategies and new corporate capabilities. Prior to Fitbit, Miko led Strategy and Business Planning at LeapFrog, where she pioneered smart connected device experiences in the toy space and built their Consumer Analytics and Lifecycle Marketing teams. Before that, she was a management consultant with KSA, and led partnership development for FTVentures (a private equity firm) and Brodia (a consumer tech startup). Miko holds a B.A. from Connecticut College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. She currently lives in Berkeley and spends her free time around Bay Area soccer fields or the slopes of Squaw Valley rooting for her boys.
