Fitbit Aria comes in two color options
The Fitbit Aria is a body composition scale, so it can measure your weight, body fat %, and body mass index (BMI). The body fat % shows what your body's composition is in fat vs. lean mass, and while on the scale it will show as a percentage, you'll have the option to view this data in pounds on your Fitbit.com account. Your BMI is relative to both your weight and height to show what a healthy weight for your height might be. Experts have suggested tracking these two additional measures for weight management.
Weight can be measured in lbs, kg, and stone, which you can configure online through your device settings.
The body fat % shows how much weight is adipose fat, and tells you more about your body's composition. Studies have shown that this is an important measure for general health. Body mass index (BMI) is relative on both your weight and your height to show what a healthy weight for your height might be.
The Aria is as accurate as any other commercial scale currently for sale. Our software has a "smart algorithm" to provide more accurate tracking over time.
No, you can use the Fitbit Aria independently of any other product.
Yes, both devices sync to your Fitbit.com account.
Yes, the information you collect using your Fitbit Aria can be viewed with the free Fitbit iPhone app.
You can choose between black or white for the Aria, to best match the room you'll keep it in.
Yes, you can weigh yourself as many times as you like throughout the day. Each time the Fitbit Aria measures your weight, you will see a different point on the graph for that day.
The Aria can be set up for eight different accounts on the Fitbit website, so it's a perfect scale for one, or an entire family. When stepping on a scale with multiple users assigned to it, the Aria will determine who it is by comparing your weight with the weights already recorded. So if your last weigh-in was 155 lbs and your current weight is 153 lbs, it's close enough that it'll know it's you rather than the 170 lb person also using the scale.
When more than one person is using the scale, their data remains private. Each time someone steps on the scale, the readings will be sent directly to their account. If it's an anonymous user or the Aria can't determine who stepped on it, the reading will show to all accounts connected with the scale and can be assigned to an account by the individual user.
Yes, the Aria is safe for pregnant women to use, but the body fat % and BMI measurements may not be accurate for you.
You should not use the Fitbit Aria if you have a pacemaker.
Yes, kids over 20 lbs can use the Aria as well. It should always be accurate for weight and, if the child has a Fitbit account linked to the scale, BMI, but the body fat % might not be accurate for children under ten.
No fee is required to use the free graphs and tools at Fitbit.com. You only have to pay for the scale itself.
If you're using the Aria consistently, the graphs help you isolate short setbacks vs. long-term progress, by accurately tracking your weight, body fat %, and BMI over time.
Your graphs are visible on your Dashboard at Fitbit.com. Log in to view them.
Your information is private by default. All your measurements are displayed on your personal dashboard, which is protected by a password. You can designate other users with whom you wish to share your data, if you want, by changing your privacy settings.
Yes, multiple scales can be connected to the same Fitbit account. So if you want an Aria in each bathroom, or one in two different homes, you can use both and expect both to sync to your account at Fitbit.com.
Yes, you earn badges for meeting your weight goals.
The Aria can be set up in two easy steps. First, go to www.Fitbit.com/start to read a quick overview of the set-up process. You'll download the software, and Fitbit will guide you through a step-by-step setup process linking the Aria to your home wireless network. During that process, you'll have the option to create a new Fitbit.com account, or to link your Aria to an existing Fitbit account.
If you don't use the Aria's wireless capabilities to sync to your online account, you can still use it as a weight scale. However, if your account information is not on the scale it can't recognize who is using the scale and will not show your body fat % or BMI.
The Aria will store your measurements even before you've set it up with your account. Once it's paired, you can see those measurements and assign them to the correct account.
The Fitbit Aria works with any Wi-Fi router using the standards 802.11b, g, or n. See the Tech Specs for more info.
Anyone can use the scale without a Fitbit.com account, but only their weight will show, and their data will not be associated to anyone (so they won't be able to see graphs, for example).
To invite others to the scale, make sure you've paired your scale to your Fitbit.com account first. Log in to Fitbit.com, and click on your email address at the very top of your screen. Select "Device Settings". Select your scale. Click the "Invite People" button and follow the steps to add new users to the scale. They will receive an invitation email and will be asked to confirm before their data shows on the list, but they can still use the scale in the meantime (remember: their data will be saved anonymously until they accept the email invitation).
The weight limit for the Aria is 350 lbs, or 159 kg.
No, you will never have to plug the Aria in. It's powered by four AA batteries, so if the batteries die just replace them. Four AA batteries are included when you purchase the Aria.
The Aria takes four AA batteries, which should last about six months. When they do run out, they can be easily replaced.
Just wipe the surface down with a moist cloth, and you're good to go.
Glass is more rugged than a plastic scale would be. It won't get dinged or bent over time.
The Fitbit Aria is not waterproof, but it should withstand normal wear. If it gets wet, just wipe it down with a dry towel. If it gets completely drenched or dropped in water, take out the batteries and let it dry immediately.
The Fitbit Aria works with PCs and Macs using modern operating systems and a range of popular web browsers. See the Tech Specs for more info.
